چکیده

Despite the NP hardness of acquiring minimum distance dm for linear codes theoretically, in this paper we propose one experimental method of finding minimum-weight codewords, the weight of which is equal to dm for LDPC codes. One existing syndrome decoding method, called serial belief propagation (BP) with ordered statistic decoding (OSD), is adapted to serve our purpose. We hold the conjecture that among many candidate error patterns in OSD reprocessing, modulo 2 addition of the lightest error pattern with one of the left error patterns may generate a light codeword. When the decoding syndrome changes to all-zero state, the lightest error pattern reduces to all-zero, the lightest non-zero error pattern is a valid codeword to update lightest codeword list. Given sufficient codewords sending, the survived lightest codewords are likely to be the target. Compared with existing techniques, our method demonstrates its efficiency in the simulation of several interested LDPC codes.

On the Minimum Distance of Non Binary LDPC Codes

Minimum distance is an important parameter of a linear error correcting code. For improved performance of binary Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes, we need to have the minimum distance grow fast with n, the codelength. However, the best we can hope for is a linear growth in dmin with n. For binary LDPC codes, the necessary and sufficient conditions on the LDPC ensemble parameters, to ensure...

In this correspondence, we study the minimum pseudo-weight and minimum pseudo-codewords of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes under linear programming (LP) decoding. First, we show that the lower bound of Kelly, Sridhara, Xu and Rosenthal on the pseudo-weight of a pseudo-codeword of an LDPC code with girth greater than 4 is tight if and only if this pseudo-codeword is a real multiple of a co...

From Cages to Trapping Sets and Codewords: A Technique to Derive Tight Upper Bounds on the Minimum Size of Trapping Sets and Minimum Distance of LDPC Codes

Cages, defined as regular graphs with minimum number of nodes for a given girth, are well-studied in graph theory. Trapping sets are graphical structures responsible for error floor of low-density paritycheck (LDPC) codes, and are well investigated in coding theory. In this paper, we make connections between cages and trapping sets. In particular, starting from a cage (or a modified cage), we c...

Finding Small Stopping Sets in the Tanner Graphs of LDPC Codes

The performance of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over the binary erasure channel for a low erasure probability is limited by small stopping sets. The frame error rate over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel for a high signal-to-noise ratio is limited by small trapping sets and by the minimum distance of the LDPC code, which is equal to the codeword with the minimal Hamming...

Search Based Weighted Multi-Bit Flipping Algorithm for High-Performance Low-Complexity Decoding of LDPC Codes

In this paper, two new hybrid algorithms are proposed for decoding Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes. Original version of the proposed algorithms named Search Based Weighted Multi Bit Flipping (SWMBF). The main idea of these algorithms is flipping variable multi bits in each iteration, change in which leads to the syndrome vector with least hamming weight. To achieve this, the proposed algo...
